Bristol Parks and Recreation is pleased to introduce Rhythm Quest Percussion. Rhythm Quest Percussion is for middle and high school age students that wish to learn (or sharpen their skills) on standard and unique percussion instruments including drums, xylophone, marimba, vibraphone, boom-whackers, and buckets, as well as other unique percussive instruments. The total cost for one semester (twelve weeks, beginning May 21) is $120, with payment options available. Saturdays 10:00 AM -11:30 AM at the Quinta Gamelin Recreation Center (garage classroom located at the rear of the property).
No experience or drums are required.
RQ Percussion is taught by skilled percussion professionals with nearly four decades of teaching and performing experience. Our instructors are volunteers and are required to pass background checks.
RQ Percussion will supply drum sticks and equipment, but students will be required to make a one-time purchase of an Evans 7-inch RealFeel Apprentice Practice Pad, Five Minute Theory instruction booklet by Mark Wessels, and A Fresh Approach to the Snare Drum instruction booklet by Mark Wessels, before the first class (all items available online).
Our staff is one-hundred percent volunteer. Registration fees are used to maintain, update, and rehabilitate the equipment that we use. Also, the fee is at a significant savings when compared to private instruction.
The program is endorsed by Bristol Parks and Recreation, the Bristol Police Dept., and the Town Administrator’s Office.
