Guided Tree Walk

May 1, 2021 @ 10:00 am 12:00 pm EDT

On Saturday, May 1, at 10am, a guided tree walk of North Burial Ground (1081 Hope St, Rte 114) will be conducted by Bill Chittick, Bristol historian and founder of the Bristol Tree Society.

The Town’s Cemetery Commission contacted Bill in 2012 to plan an arboretum at North Burial Ground. A variety of trees, including native species as well as ornamentals, have been planted at the historic cemetery. In the past 5 years approximately 100 trees have been planted with funds from the Cemetery’s Perpetual Care Fund. North Burial Ground is self funded by the families who choose to use this Town service, and from the Cemetery’s Perpetual Care Fund. North Burial Ground does not rely on Town tax dollars. North Burial Ground is available to Bristol families of all faiths and beliefs.

The tour will meet in the area between the brick chapel and the prominent Soldiers Monument and will last approximately one and a half hours. Parking is available at Asylum Rd lot, about a 7-8-minute walk to the start of the tour.  The event is free.
