Bristol’s Transfer Station is a waste deposit site where rubbish and recyclables from residents in Bristol, RI are processed prior to being moved. The Bristol Transfer Station is for use by Bristol Residents ONLY.
Please Note: There is a cap of two tons (4000 lbs.) per household per permit year. This annual cap total includes any combination of Day Passes and/or Residential Permit.
Beginning in 2022, Residential Annual Permits and Residential Day Passes are available online through the Town of Bristol’s e-permitting platform, Viewpoint Cloud. To request a permit or day pass, please follow the link below.

Transfer Station Residential Permit (for Bristol, RI residents only) | $25 | Residential permits can be purchased annually for $25 each. They require a vehicle registration with a Bristol address. |
Residential Dumping Fees (for Bristol, RI residents only) | $100/ton | $10 for every 200 lbs dumped until the cap is reached. There is a cap limit of 2 tons (4000 lbs) per permit and a $10 minimum for every load dumped. |
Freon Items | $25/unit | The disposal fee for any unit containing freon is $25.00 |
Tires (for Bristol, RI residents only) | Varies | $8 per automobile tire / $13 per truck tire. |
Mattresses and Box Springs (for Bristol, RI residents only) | Free | Mattresses and Boxsprings are now free for Bristol residents to drop off at the Transfer Station (certain restrictions may apply). Futon mattresses are considered bulky items and are not part of the mattress recycling program. |
Waste Oil (for Bristol, RI residents only) | $5 | Residents can dispose of up to 5 gallons per visit. |
Special Pick-Up Items (for Bristol, RI residents only) | $35/item | Special Pick-Ups can be arranged for furniture, rugs, appliances, gym equipment, hot water heaters, and any other item as determined by the Public Works Director. |
Special Pick-Up Items w/ Freon (for Bristol, RI residents only) | $40/item | Special Pick-Ups for any item containing freon are $40. The resident may bring these items to the Transfer Station at a rate of $25 per piece. |
Hazardous Materials | N/A | Propane tanks, oil/lead-based paint, gasoline, and Chemicals are not accepted at the Transfer Station. For these and other hazardous materials contact The Eco-Depot. |

Compost Disposal | Free | Disposal of compost disposal is free to Bristol homeowners. Any Commercial compost disposal should refer to the Sewer Dept. (253-8877). |
Dirt, Gravel, Stone | N/A | Dirt, Gravel, Stone, Fill. or any other substrates are not accepted at the Transfer Station. |
Transfer Station Passes & Permits
To obtain an Annual Permit/Day pass, applicants must provide the following:
- A valid driver’s license with a Bristol, RI address.
- An active vehicle registration listing the same Bristol, RI residential address is required.
All vehicles entering the Transfer Station must possess a current and valid Residential Permit, affixed to the driver-side lower corner of the windshield, or be in possession of a current and valid Day Pass that is associated with the vehicle registered to the resident in possession of the Day Pass.
