Bristol’s targeted incentive programs help companies that are located or doing business in Bristol by lessening the tax burden and lowering overall cost.
Bristol Tax Stabilization Program
New commercial construction or rehabilitation projects could be eligible for a 5-10 year phase-in of property taxes. This program is designed for projects $250,000 or greater. Proposals must be reviewed prior to submitting in a permitting application with the Building Department. Bristol Tangible Tax Exemption
Businesses that operate in Bristol and whose total tangible property is assessed at ten thousand ($10,000) or less can now request to be exempt from completing the full annual return and paying the applicable tax.
Federal Opportunity Zone Program
Investors with capital gains tax liabilities can make equity investments in businesses and real estate located in Bristol’s designated Opportunity Zone to receive special tax benefits.
Automated Commercial Trash Collection
Bristol is one of two municipalities in Rhode Island that offers trash collection services to businesses. Businesses can make a one-time purchase of a 65-gallon trash & recycling barrel and have rubbish collected through the Town’s weekly pickup schedule.
